We acknowledge with gratitude that we live, work, and gather on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam Nations. We honor their history, culture, and ongoing contributions to this region, and recognize our shared responsibility to walk respectfully on this land.

Welcome to Disastermedia.net!

Canada, known as the land of immigrants, often welcomes individuals seeking new beginnings and opportunities. However, immigrants are considered among vulnerable populations, especially in the face of disaster incidents. As they focus on establishing their lives in their new home country, particularly during the early years of settlement, their primary concerns typically revolve around immediate needs and integration. This focus often results in a lack of awareness of various ambient conditions such as politics, environment, and disaster and emergency situations during their settlement period, which varies between 3 to 10 years for each individual.

In a world increasingly affected by natural hazards, especially climate change related ones, the need for effective disaster awareness and preparedness has never been greater. As a passionate advocate for disaster management, I have created Disastermedia.net to serve as a vital resource for both Persian and English-speaking populations, particularly those in Canada.

The primary objective of Disastermedia.net, as an independent website, is to raise awareness about disasters within diverse groups, especially Farsi-speaking individuals. My focus is on disaster, emergency, and crisis management, predominantly stemming from natural hazards. To fulfill this mission, the platform features a diverse range of content, including:

  • News articles
  • Descriptive accounts of past and ongoing disasters and incidents
  • Analytical reports
  • Disaster narratives
  • Scientific and educational materials
  • Informative media in the form of movies and podcasts

I invite individuals to contribute to the website. Your donations of relevant material will not only enhance the value of the platform but also contribute to the improvement of services. I welcome submissions in either English or Farsi, and upon initial verification, contributors’ works will be published under their names. Your support is crucial in fostering a community dedicated to disaster awareness and preparedness.
